Tank Cars

  • Specialty tank cars that are used to transport chemicals or compressed gases in liquid form in pressure or non-pressure applications.
  • Products range from alcohol to xylene and may be classified as hazardous or non-hazardous in nature.
  • The cars are typically loaded from the top of the car and may be unloaded through either top or bottom outlet valves.

Covered Hopper

  • Designed to protect and transport dry bulk commodities such as cement, agricultural products, unrefined food products and plastic pellets.
  • The cars are loaded though hatch openings in the roof and are unloaded through bottom outlets by gravity, gravity pneumatic or pneumatic operations.

Pressure Differential Covered Hopper

  • An adaptation of a standard covered hopper with the ability to be unloaded by applying air pressure to the interior of the car to force the commodity out of the car and into a receiving vessel at the unloading site.
  • The Pressure Differential car is most commonly used for commodities that require sanitary applications or that are difficult to handle by other means.

Gondolas

  • Open top freight cars typically used for dense commodities such as steel coils, scrap metals and construction debris.
  • The cars do not have bottom unloading capability.

Open Top Hopper

  • Freight cars without a roof for bulk commodities such as coal, stone, wood chips or cottonseed hulls.
  • The cars may or may not be equipped for bottom unloading depending on the commodity.

Flat Cars

  • Flat deck cars without sides or bulkheads that are used to transport oversize loads such as steel plate, machinery, pipes and transformers.

Box Cars

  • Closed top, sift proof cars with side loading and unloading typically used for finished or bagged cargo ranging from auto parts, consumer goods, paper and food products.
